The window for submitting candidacy applications will run from 18 to 25 November 2025. This announcement follows the directive issued by the Minister of Municipal and Housing Affairs, which formally approved the organization of the electoral process and emphasized the need to strengthen the transparency of its procedures. The committee described this step as part of an ongoing effort to expand professional participation, elevate governance standards, and involve engineers from different fields in shaping the future of engineering practice in the Kingdom—an ambition closely aligned with the broader goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
In its statement, the committee clarified that nominations must be submitted through the dedicated electronic portal created specifically for the Board elections. Those interested in running are strongly encouraged to review the eligibility requirements before applying. These requirements include submitting the application within the announced timeframe, holding an active basic membership in the Council prior to the publication of the call for nominations, and not being employed by the Council in any capacity. A candidate must also hold the “Professional Engineer" classification granted by the Council. Just as importantly, the applicant must be willing to allocate sufficient time to perform the responsibilities expected of a Board member. And one might wonder for a moment—why all these layers of conditions? Simply because the Council aims to ensure that those elected can genuinely commit to the work rather than treating it as a ceremonial role. The rules also specify that a candidate must not have served on the Board for two consecutive terms, or parts of them, without completing a full break between terms.
Additional conditions emphasize personal integrity. Applicants must demonstrate good conduct and have no prior legal convictions related to dishonesty or breach of trust unless their reputation has been legally restored. Candidates are required to attach a detailed résumé that includes their personal information, academic background, and professional experience. Sometimes a résumé reveals more than one expects—experience, gaps, strengths—and the committee reviews these details to verify whether all nomination requirements are met.
The Supervisory Committee stated that every application will undergo a comprehensive review and auditing process, following the approved regulations. Once the verification stage is completed, the preliminary list of candidates will be published. The committee noted that the election process will be managed through clearly defined procedures that reflect high standards of transparency and professionalism. These measures aim to ensure fairness among all candidates and to allow eligible voting members to select the most competent individuals to lead the Council in its upcoming term. In the meantime, the committee encourages both nominees and voters to follow the updates through the Council's official communication channels. The process may feel repetitive at times, or even slow, but that's the nature of organized elections—layers of steps meant to protect fairness, even if they take time. And with that, the committee brings the announcement to a close, leaving the upcoming phase of nominations to unfold in the coming days.
