The Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) has announced the establishment of six new engineering Divisions. This move aims to enhance member participation, support specialized disciplines, and empower professional competencies, as part of the Council's ongoing role in developing and regulating engineering practice in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The SCE Board of Directors approved the creation of the following new Divisions: Mining Engineering, Safety and Facilities Management, Marine Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering. This initiative is designed to expand the scope of professional representation and improve the efficiency of specialized work within the Council's ecosystem.
Nomination and Election Schedule The Council has outlined the timeline for the nomination and election process as follows:
• Opening of Nominations: The nomination period will begin on the morning of Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
• Closing of Nominations: The period will remain open until the morning of Monday, February 9, 2026.
• Announcement of Nominees: The names of candidates for each chapter will be officially announced on February 10, 2026.
• Voting Period: The voting process to select chapter members starts on the morning of Sunday, February 15, 2026, and concludes on the morning of Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
• Results and Counting: Vote counting and the announcement of winners will take place on the same day, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, through governed electoral procedures that ensure fairness, transparency, and ease of participation.
Terms and Conditions for Candidacy The Council emphasized that the nomination process is subject to several conditions, including:
• The candidate must hold a valid and active basic membership.
• The candidate must have obtained a professional rank of "Professional" or higher.
• The nomination must be within the candidate's actual engineering specialization.
• Candidates must apply in a personal capacity and strictly adhere to all approved rules and regulations.
• Special Requirement for the Safety and Facilities Management Chapter: Applicants must provide proof of at least five years of practical experience in the field or hold an accredited professional certificate in that specific specialty.
