Saudi Council of Engineers Identifies 55 Unlicensed Practitioners in Jazan and Refers Violations to the Public Prosecution

The Saudi Council of Engineers conducted a field inspection as part of its ongoing regulatory mandate to enforce compliance with the Law of Practice of Engineering Professions. The inspection resulted in the identification of a contracting establishment operating on a major project in the Jazan region that was employing fifty-five (55) individuals to perform engineering and technical duties without obtaining the mandatory professional accreditation from the Council.

The Council affirmed that professional licensure constitutes a statutory prerequisite for the lawful practice of engineering activities within the Kingdom. Such accreditation is a fundamental regulatory requirement intended to ensure professional competency, protect public safety, and maintain the quality and integrity of engineering works. The Council emphasized that noncompliance exposes both individuals and entities to the penalties prescribed under applicable laws and regulations.

Prior to initiating extensive enforcement proceedings, the Council issued text message notifications to the unlicensed practitioners using the contact information registered on the Absher platform. These notifications were disseminated as part of the awareness campaign titled #Licensed_or_Not, urging the individuals concerned to regularize their professional status and obtain the required accreditation before the commencement of legal action.

The Council has formally referred the violating establishment and the individuals involved to the Public Prosecution, in accordance with the relevant jurisdictional procedures, to complete the necessary legal measures.

The Council further confirmed that inspection and compliance campaigns will continue across all regions of the Kingdom without exception.

These actions reflect the Council’s statutory mandate to protect and uphold the integrity of the engineering profession, strengthen regulatory compliance, and advance public safety and the quality of national development projects throughout the Kingdom.
