These elections are based on Article VI of the Law of the Saudi Council of Engineers, which stipulates that the Council's Board of Directors shall consist of ten members; half of whom shall be elected by the General Assembly representing the regular members, while the other half shall be appointed from representatives of government authorities and experts under a resolution of the Prime Minister upon the nomination of the head of the head of the agency overseeing the Council. The article further provides that the head of the agency overseeing the Council shall select the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board, whose appointments shall be confirmed under a resolution of the Prime Minister. The term of office shall be three years, renewable once. The Board shall hold meetings periodically or as needed, and its decisions shall be passed by a majority vote, with the Chairman having a casting vote in the event of a tie. The Secretary-General shall attend the Board's meetings without having the right to vote.
