Holding the starting meetings for the SCE 6th Board election

The first introductory meeting that presented the relevant aspects of the BoD electoral process of the SCE (the sixth edition 2018/2021), were held on Tuesday evening, 18/6/1439 corresponding to 6th March 2018 at Secretariat headquarters In Riyadh.

The meeting was attended by Electoral Supervisory Commission Chairman Mr. Yahya Bin Ali Azzan, Committee members, Engineer Abdul Karim Al Saadun, and Mr. Mohamed Ben Ahmed Al-Maliki, in the presence of a large number of core members applying for membership in the BoD of the Saudi Council of Engineers at its sixth edition ( 2018/2021) that 147 members of Saudi engineers are competing to win its ten seats.

The first meeting discussed aspects related to the electoral process, such as electronic voting mechanisms and controls, electoral centers, proposed dates for elections, voting schedules, introductory guide, electoral campaigns, voter lists, list of final candidates, and it was only attended by the candidates and or their representatives.

The Electoral Supervisory Commission will organize tow introductory meetings that gathers candidates of the BoD election in major cities (Damam, Jeddah), as the second meeting will be held at the Eastern Province chamber of commerce on Wednesday, 19/6/1439 H corresponding to March 7, 2018. The third and final meeting will be held in Jeddah on Thursday 20/6/1439 H corresponding to 8 March 2018, at 8:00 pm in the SCE branch in Jeddah located at Prince Sultan Street.

The Electoral Supervisory Commission Chairman encouraged all engineers to contribute to the success of these elections through participation, especially that all engineers seek to improve the engineering sector in the KSA, through an elector process that means an active participation of engineers in decision-making through choosing their candidates that are going assume positions of leadership in the Board of Directors of the SCE, which spares no effort to organize the life of engineers and manage their affairs.

The Electoral Supervisory Commission Chairman Mr. Yahya Bin Ali Azzan expressed thanks to all candidates for their generous initiative to nominate themselves for The BoD membership offering their time and thoughts for the SCE and he also thanked voters for exercising their professional right to vote for members whom they think would serve the SCE and contribute to realize its vision and implement its strategies.

The Electoral Supervisory Commission Chairman confirmed that the voting process will take place as per the time specified in the election schedule. In addition to this, the SCE has issued a printed manual that included an information page for each candidate highlighting the candidate qualifications, experience, and resume and indicating the candidate scientific and professional achievements, vision and goals, and  plans that he/she aims to achieve. He stressed that this guide will be available for view at the SCE website voters on  .

The Electoral Supervisory Commission Chairman stressed that the candidate shall be comply, in introducing himself/herself, with the rules, regulations, and ethics of the engineering profession and shall be committed to respect for public order and the values of the Saudi society and its esteemed constants, honest competition, respect the rights of other candidates and avoid adversely affecting them and refrain from harming individuals engineers or professional engineering entities through any means. He emphasized that the candidate introduction should be individually carried out and it is forbidden for candidate to agree on a unified electoral lists for the BoD membership.

Its worthy noting that the SCE law issued by Royal Decree No. M / 36 26/9/1423 states in its sixth article that the Board of Directors shall consist of ten core members, elected by the General Assembly and the Executive Regulation shall determine the required electoral procedures and what is required by the candidates, and The elected BoD members shall elect a chairman for the BoD and choose his/her deputy from among its members through secret ballot.
