Final communiqué and recommendations of the International Engineering Conference & Exhibition

The International Engineering Conference & Exhibition was held from December 4 – 7, 2017, and has achieved unprecedented successes in terms of attendance and participants.

Twelve courses were included in the conference, including independent or integrated engineering disciplines. In each course, several working papers were presented.  A total of 211 working papers were presented, in addition to more than 70 participants who took parts in the engineering exhibition accompanying the conference activities.
 
The participants of various nationalities represented more than 32 countries from around the world.
Nearly 6,000 participants, at an average of around 1500 per day, took part in the four-day events conference.
At the end of the conference, the participants, supervisory committees and organizers of the conference arrived at several recommendations, the most important of which are:
 
1. Thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, for approval to convene the conference and the accompanying exhibition, and also thanks to the Crown Prince, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz for his support to holding the events.
2- Conference organizers and participants appreciation of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Investment for his patronage of the conference and his keenness to ensure the success of its activities and his consent follow-up of the committees, before and during the conference.
3- The participants would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Saudi Council of Engineers, its Board of Directors, its General Secretariat, its various departments and the Organizing Committee of the Conference and the accompanying events for their good organization of the conference and its appearance in this honorable and achievable manner.
4 - Add courses in the different stages of education, which are concerned with education and enhancing the thought of information security, and how to apply personal protection from information security breaches.
- Encourage investment in the mining sector and related downstream industries, educate those interested in the opportunities available in the sector through local and international partnerships and holding meetings and partnerships with local and international investors in the field of mining.
6. Urge the academic sector to exert more efforts and encourage the Saudi engineer to pursue the specialization of structural engineering.
7. Take into account the O & M considerations at early stages during the study, design and develop government projects, including selection of materials and procurement.
8. Update the curricula of architectural studies and develop the outputs of architectural engineering education to keep pace with the Kingdom's ambitious vision and challenges and international developments in the field of architecture.
9. Study the status of industrial waste and its use as alternative substitutes in construction to reduce production costs and protect the environment against harmful emissions.
10 - Improve the performance of technicians and contractors in making terminals of cables, electrical service, control quality standards and contribute to reducing and saving cost and protecting equipment and continuity and reliability of supplied electricity service.
11 - Create a national database of the costs of the implementation of engineering projects and their various components.
12- Recommend establishment of a governmental body concerned with safety and occupational health, to be used as a reference for safety procedures in the Kingdom.
13. Support the private sector to encourage adoption of best practices in the construction sector and increase awareness of the importance of green building practices.
14. Develop a general and comprehensive specialized professional framework for the consideration and resolution of contract disputes for engineering projects in the public and private sectors.
15. Request approval to hold the International Conference and Exhibition periodically every two years, under the patronage of His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
